About Us
Stitchers Garden was founded in October 1988 by Myra Nickolaus after she had difficulty finding premium cotton fabric for her quilting and sewing projects.
Myra started Stitchers Garden at Carter’s Court in Franklin, Tennessee. As the shop grew with more bolts of fabric, Myra moved Stitchers Garden to Main Street and then Watson Glen, all in Franklin, TN. In the Spring of 2021, Myra moved Stitchers Garden to its current location in Brentwood, TN.
Myra’s desire was to create a destination for quilters to find all the fabric, supplies and resources needed to create beautiful quilts. Stitchers Garden has more than 30,000 bolts of high-quality cotton fabric from a wide variety of designers with both current as well as vintage and out-of-print fabrics.
Myra passed away on February 2, 2023. At the time of her death, she had achieved her dream of a large and varied selection of fabric and supplies that were organized and accessible to her customers. Her family is continuing her legacy while looking for a new owner.
Stitchers Garden has two shopping areas: the Main area and Myra’s Secret Stitchers Garden (AKA the Back Room of Bargains). Myra loved fabric and collected many bolts of fabric that she kept in her off-site archives. These bolts are a little older and are being sold in Myra’s Secret Stitchers Garden in the back area of the shop at $6/yard. The bolts are sorted in boxes on the floor and some shelves. It is nothing fancy. However, the price is a bargain! This area will remain open as long as there are bolts of fabric to sell back there. Update (10/2024): The Secret Garden closed at the end of August 2024 since we had sold the majority of the fabric back there. The remaining fabric was donated to SMART Arts and Crafts.
Myra also kept the first quarter yard to half yard of every bolt she ever purchased. These first cuts are being sold as From the Archives Remnants.
There are a lot of exciting changes and updates in 2024 for Stitchers Garden! For 2024, Stitchers Garden has transitioned to a new inventory management and cash register system, Like Sew. And we are all still learning how to use the Like Sew system! Please be patient with us during this transition. This was a necessary transition to be able to move forward with online sales and online class registration.
Please remember that with growth comes some growing pains, we hope there are not too many, but when there are, please be patient with us!
