Are you intimidated by bags with zippers and lots of pieces? The "H" bag by Orange Dot Quilts is a perfect bag for beginners, or anyone who wants a versatile, easy-to-sew project. You will complete this cute bag in class (yay!) and Jane will bring samples to show you how to vary the look. Warning: You may become hooked and end up making multiples in a variety of sizes and fabrics!

This is a one on one lesson with Lynn where the student learns about fusible applique.

Join the slow stitching movement by adding large hand stitches to your quilt. You can cover your entire quilt in hand stitching, or just add bits here and there. Jane will help you plan a design for whatever quilt you bring to class and will show you just how enjoyable it can be to embellish your project by hand. Bring a quilt that you want to embellish or bring an 18 inch quilt sandwich to practice your stitching. Examples of Big Stitch in the store: The Paint Lake Quilt and Urban Abacus are embellished with Big Stitches.

I'm excited to be teaching a bomber jacket workshop. In this class, we will be transforming old, worn-out quilts into unique and stylish jackets. I'll provide all the information and guidance needed to make this project a success. It's a great way to repurpose old quilts and give them a new life as a functional and fashionable piece of clothing. I can't wait to see what creative designs everyone comes up with!

Piecing boots and fusible machine appliqué is a technique to add fabric to a quilt or project to create additional layers and motifs that are difficult to achieve with piecing. The student will learn a how to use a variety of stitches to achieve different looks for appliqué.

Come join the fun in this class with Corrie. You will learn how to sew a small cross body bag for your phone and small necessities. It is perfect for when you don't want to carry a large handbag. You will learn to overcome any anxiety about inserting a zipper because Corrie will teach you how simple it can be and that you have no need to fear.

Join Lynn to make a double wedding ring quilt with the appliqué technique. The size of the quilt will be determined by the number of rings the quilter wants to make.

If you have been thinking about making a bag, this is the perfect one to start with. You will make the bag using the easy “zipper hack” method. Use the multifunctional bag to store items; then, open the bag and use it as a tray. It comes in three sizes and is great for travel. All three sizes are on display in the shop.

Join this class to make a cute duffle bag with your favorite fabric. It is the perfect size for a carry-on whilst traveling or going to the gym. Overcome your fear of inserting a zipper in this bag - you will learn that there is nothing to fear!

Bring your Echinacea quilt kit to the class and get started on this stunning quilt! You will be assisted with the laying out of the pattern pieces, cutting the fabric and assembling the blocks. You will also receive expert advice on how to machine applique the Echinacea flowers on the blocks.

This age-old method of quilting is still popular today...probably because it is portable, economical, and offers so many creative options. Jane will teach you the technique and show you many ways to use it.

The pattern for this quilt was designed to showcase the new Tula Pink fabric line: Full Moon Forest II. The 12 1/2” center block is an owl that was fussy cut from the fabric line. One color way was chosen to surround the owl, and one color way was chosen for the outside of the quilt. This quilt could easily be converted to using a favorite 12 1/2” quilt block from your stash and selecting 2 color ways to showcase the block. The preparation for the class is easy. You will learn a simple way to cut the logs in class. The directions are free with the class.

The fabric portrait mosaic technique recreates a picture for a quilted wall hanging using value and saturation. Students will supply a photo before class to create a personal portrait.

Join us at the shop to work on your own project in our spacious classroom! Bring your project and your sewing machine to sew up to 5 hours. This is a great opportunity to arrange sewing time with your friends in a private space. You may just want to get away from distractions at home and sew uninterrupted. Ample space is available to spread out your large projects. Ironing stations are provided. Stitchers Garden will not provide machines, supplies, or instructors. Seating is limited, so reservations are required in advance.

We’ll start with pattern selection and fabric prep, then dive into garment construction and the finishing touches that make it personal. You’ll get a full overview of sewing with quilted materials and expert instruction on everything from sizing to sewing binding.

Our Beginning class is here! You will learn all the basic techniques of quilting while completing this beautiful Saltwater Sampler quilt. The class consists of 4 sessions and there will be lots of practical information and block making. Come join Linda in learning the basics of making a quilt.

Sewing Pottery is the creation of a vase made from fabric-covered coiled cotton clothesline.

Working with stripped piecing and curved piecing can be a challenge, but students will learn to tackle a simple Drunkard's Path block to create a dynamic quilt. This project will create Stripper's Knot quilt 65" x 65". The Stripper's Knot quilt is a variation of the Lover's Knot pattern, with a stripped strata to add interest.

Crazy Modern is a fresh interpretation of the crazy quilts of the early 1900’s. Learn the basics of foundation piecing, use up your scraps, and expand your stitch repertoire with decorative stitches on your sewing machine.

Join Sandra Chandler for a heartfelt quilting experience where we repurpose deconstructed denim to create Maggie’s Squares, a quilt inspired by Sandra’s grandmother, Maggie—the first person to put a needle and thread in her hands. This workshop blends traditional quilting techniques with modern upcycling, allowing you to transform worn denim into a beautiful, functional quilt that tells a story. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have completed several Maggie’s Squares blocks, setting the foundation for a full quilt while learning essential sewing and quilting techniques.

The Tool Tote is what everyone needs and wants! There are pockets all the way around the outside and pockets all the way around the inside. The heavy duty stays keep the mouth wide open and easy to get into. The tote is about 15” wide x 7” tall x 10” deep. Because of its size, the versatility is endless.

This is a comprehensive course designed to guide the student through the process of making a quilt. We offer several classes that will help you to create and complete a basic quilt pattern. This course is more extensive. You will learn about basic quilting techniques that cover rotary cutting, making blocks, making blocks faster, pressing, choosing fabrics, quilting, and binding. We will talk about different tools that make creating blocks easier and more successful. When you are finished with the course you will have what you need to design a sampler quilt. What's more you will hopefully be inspired and understand that you don't have to have a specific pattern to be creative and make a quilt. You just need a little confidence and inspiration. One student has described the class as being a class with a mentor who answers questions and inspires learning. Are you up for the challenge? You don't need to have prior experience or knowledge for this class. Sewing Machine in good working order, power cord, foot pedal, and extra bobbins

¼ inch foot for sewing machine (if you have it)

50 weight cotton thread in a neutral color and extra 80/12 sewing machine needles

Rotary cutter and 6-inch x 12 or 14-inch ruler

Scissors, seam ripper, pen/pencil and paper (for notes)

Stitchers Garden Class Policies: 

Classes at Stitchers Garden are limited to 4 to 6 students. You must register in person, at the store or on-line at our website, www.StitchersGarden.com, to save your place. Unless specified, the cost of the class does not include project supplies and/or kit supplies. You will receive a supply list and/or prep sheet at the time of registration. Class members will receive a 10% discount on class supplies purchased at the shop before class and the day of class. Plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to class so that you have ample time to get set up prior to the beginning of class. Remember that class fees are non-refundable, non-exchangeable, even for no-shows, so double check your calendar and then sign up to join us! Students will receive a refund should the class be cancelled by the shop. 

What is your skill level?

Beginner:  Just learning

Confident Beginner:  Knows their sewing machine and how it works, has a working knowledge of a rotary cutter, and can sew a ¼ seam consistently

Intermediate:  Has the ability to follow simple pattern instructions

Advanced:  Intermediate skills and willingness to learn an advanced technique
